SHOOTING SCRIPT & LOCATION RECCE
The following stage of production is largely based on the location of the filming and the shots that will be featured in the trailer. A shooting script is a breakdown of the shots that details where, how and when each shot will take place. The shooting script includes the camera shot with a description, the cast and crew, the equipment required and call sheets for each location. This section also includes a location Reece which is a brief overview of the different locations that we intend to use in our trailer. We have also included inspirations from real media texts based on their locations which are similar to ours.
Above is the Chronicle Pictures Crew which consists of Olly, Haja, Simon and Alpha.

INSPIRATION FROM REAL MEDIA TEXTS
Below are all shots and call sheets ,categorised in specific locations they will be shot in. Along with trailers which gave us inspiration for our horror trailer as we thought the speed and some of the shots used fit in well with what we were going for.
Hostel and Saw were two real media texts which we were inspired by, as both of their locations were abandoned buildings which had basements or garages. In theses areas torturing of the characters took place, this was a huge influence as our film trailer is based on the antagonist torturing the protagonist and stock character. Basements, garages and abandoned buildings are quite iconic in horror films where torturing is a theme. We wanted to represent this iconic feature in our trailer too by filming in an abandoned building.
OUR LOCATION
Above is the location we would be shooting our horror film trailer. We would be using around 7 different locations within this location which is the Penarth Centre.

1. Establishing shot - Introducing the Location of the Penarth Centre
POSITIVES;
|
NEGATIVES;
- A negative would be that because we would be filming the location from across the road cars and people walking past may interfere in our filming
- There aren't any power sockets available outside
SUMMARY;
LIGHTING: The lighting in this area is really good as we would be outside so the natural outside lighting would be high key. This will enhance the quality of our footage as good lighting will help get the full extent of the camera's quality. SPACE: The outside area of the Penarth centre was very spacious which was a benefit to us especially as we would be doing panning and tracking shots of the building. Also, as the shots that we will be filming here do not require vast amounts of movements, spacing won't be an issue for us when we are filming. POWER: Whilst visiting the location there isn't many options for power as it is outside, however lighting wouldn't be a problem. |
The movie Insidious and the possession inspired us as one of their first few shots is of the location which is a house. We wanted to replicate this to introduce our audience to the location so they can familiarise themselves with it.

POSITIVES;
- A positive of filming here would be the natural lighting of this location, this would enhance the quality of our footage
- This area is quite spacious
NEGATIVES;
- A negative of this location would be a safety issue someone could fall over the balcony as it is quite high
- People walking past could interfere in the filming
SUMMARY;
LIGHTING; The lighting in this area is really good as we would be outside so the natural outside lighting would be high key. This will enhance the quality of our footage as good lighting will help get the full extent of the camera's quality. This is quite similar to the first location
SPACE; The spacing in this area is quite spacious, however we would need to be very careful near the balcony as someone could fall over. But other than that it is very spacious. Wide angles, establishing shots, panning and tracking can be taken here.
POWER; Whilst visiting the location there isn't many options for power as it is outside, however lighting wouldn't be a problem.

NEGATIVES;
- People walking past, parking their cars or getting into their cars to drive off could interfere in our filming
SUMMARY;
LIGHTING; The lighting in the car park is generally good however because its similar to a shed it looks quite dark and the natural lighting is sort of blocked out. But there are many windows which help reflect the natural light into the shed, so this isn't much of a problem. SPACE; The spacing in the car park area was very spacious, a number of shots could be used such as panning, tracking, establishing and wide angle shots. POWER; Whilst visiting the location there isn't many options for power as it is outside, however lighting wouldn't be a problem. |
The movie Drag Me To hell inspired us as they have a few shots of the main character in a car park being attacked. This inspired us as car parks are mainly always dark with minimal lighting so this would increase tension and suspense for the audience when watching tis. They wouldn't know what to expect.

SUMMARY;
LIGHTING; The lighting in this area is quite good as there are large amount of windows that will allow natural lighting to come in. This will enhance the quality of our footage as good lighting will help get the full extent of the camera's quality
SPACING; This area is quite narrow however very spacious. This could be used for tracking shots of the characters running.
POWER; Whilst visiting the location I noticed around the corridors there isn't much power sockets available, but due to the natural light that comes through, lighting will not be that much of an issue when filming.
